How do I get funding for solid wall insulation?
You need to meet certain qualifying criteria to access funding. You need to either be a homeowner or live in a privately rented house. If you live in a private rental, the criteria are based on you and your circumstances, not on your landlords.
You will need to talk to your landlord before you have any work done on their property. If either you or any of the members of your household receive any of the following benefits you may be able to access one of the funding via the ECO scheme.

Professional engineers to install your internal wall insulation
Internal wall insulation or solid wall insulation is easy to fit. There are two main ways to fit it. Either insulation boards can be fastened to the wall, or a timber frame can be constructed which is filled with insulation material.
In both instances, the fixtures and fittings need to be removed from the wall and then re-attached to the new wall. With Greener Home Projects, you can be confident that the work will be carried out professionally and reliably.

Installers under ECO must be PAS 2030:2017 (Publicly Available Specification) accredited and will have a registration number, and be Trust Mark registered. Internal wall insulation will save you money
Insulating a solid wall house, with internal wall insulation can reduce the heat loss by up to 45%. Reducing heat loss by installing solid wall insulation has various positives.
Firstly when you reduce heat loss you reduce your energy bills, which saves you money.
Secondly, you will be warmer! Insulation does exactly what it says on the tin. Insulation keeps the warmth in your house, which saves you money as you don’t instantly lose all the heat out of your walls.
Installing internal insulation will improve your living conditions and the quality of your house. Houses benefit from being heated, as they can suffer from dampness if left unheated, which can cause further problems.
Internal wall insulation for older houses
It was not until the 1930s that houses began to be built with a cavity wall, till then all houses were built with a solid wall and they were really cold. A solid brick wall is usually constructed in patterns known as bonds, and have bricks laid end on in the pattern known as headers, which provide strength to the wall. Unfortunately, these walls don’t provide very good wall insulation, as the heat simply passes through the bricks and into the outside.
Later house designs were built with a cavity wall. This is with two walls of brick with a space or cavity in the middle. The cavity prevents the heat from escaping and means that the cold air doesn’t spread from the outside bricks to the inside bricks. You can tell the construction of your walls by measuring them.
A solid wall will be as thick as the length of a brick (215mm) plus any plaster or rendering that has been added. Simply stand in the doorway and grab your tape measure! The internal wall insulation funding scheme is one of the many insulation funding options available through the ECO scheme. ECO stands for Energy Company Obligation. This scheme means that the energy companies have to pay a portion of their profits into a pot every year, and this money is used to improve the efficiency and carbon footprint of older housing.

Modern housing is built to current regulations which are much more stringent.
