Who is eligible for the Green Homes Grant?

You have to meet certain criteria to be eligible for a Green Homes Grant and begin applying for a voucher. Don’t worry if you are unsure whether you qualify, as at Greener Home Projects we understand the complexities of the Green Homes Grant scheme and will help you every step of the way.

You must either be a homeowner or live in a privately rented house. Housing associations do not qualify for this scheme. New builds also do not qualify as they are already built with better levels of insulation and more carbon-neutral heating systems.

This scheme has been created to increase energy efficiency measures and to improve the quality of housing across the country. As long as you meet the housing criteria anyone can apply for the Green Homes Grant and receive up to £5000, though you will have to contribute towards the cost of the work.

However, you could receive the full £10,000 available if someone in your household receives benefits, and you won’t be required to make contributions towards the cost of the improvements. Other people in your household can work, provided someone receives benefits. As long as someone in your household receives one of the following benefits shown on this page you may be eligible to receive the full amount of money available.

Home improvements funded by the Green Homes Grant

There are a range of different home improvements that can be carried out under the Green Homes Grant. These are split into primary and secondary measures and you must install one of the primary measures before installing one of the secondary measures. Don’t worry if you are unsure about how to do this, as we will be able to make sure that you gain the maximum amount of grant funding to carry out the most beneficial home improvements to save you money and improve your house.

Primary measures include different types of insulation depending on what your home already has, as well as low carbon heating, this includes measures such as an air source heat pump or solar panels. Once you have installed one of these primary measures, you can then install one of the secondary measures such as double glazing or draught-proofing. Many energy efficiency improvements can be carried out, from cavity wall insulation to low carbon heat or renewable heat.

Simple measures such as replacing single glazed windows or adding hot water tank insulation can make a big difference. At Greener Home Projects we will be able to make sure you get the most out of your Green Homes Grant and improve the energy efficiency of your home as well as saving you money on your energy bills.

We are experts in our field and will give you simple energy advice. With older houses, there is a lot that you can do from replacing single glazing to installing wall insulation, and we can work out the best energy-efficient improvements for your home.

Low carbon heating is good for us all

Transforming your old house into a green home helps us all. Every time we install at least one measure under the Green Homes Grant we are one step closer to making our homes more carbon neutral. Not only does this impact the environment, by making us more environmentally friendly, but even if you install at least one energy-saving measure you will improve the quality of your housing.

Better housing across the country helps us, we save money on our heating bills and enjoy warmer homes. It is better to improve the housing that we currently have than simply build endless new housing.

Older style housing is well-built and often has larger gardens and bigger rooms than more modern housing. All it needs is a bit of work to make it as efficient as more modern housing. Whether you opt for replacing single glazing windows or replacing old glazed or solid doors, every energy-saving measure will improve your home.

The scheme allows you to access various improvements, you must install at least one primary measure before moving onto the secondary measures. Homeowners in England will benefit from the improvements as it will increase the value of your homes. Though more importantly, as a house is primarily a home, your home will be warmer, cosier, and nicer to spend time in.

A warm, draught-free house where the heating stays inside the walls, will be a pleasanter experience for you and all your family. When you come to us we will give you simple energy advice to make sure that the changes that you make to your home bring you the best results. Improving heating controls and insulation will make your home warmer.
